Brock Strong Foundation honored at Canal Winchester Labor Day Festival

DARLENE: LABOR DAY MARKS THE END OF SUMMER, WITH A FINAL LONG WEEKEND OF FESTIVITIES AND PARADES. NBC4’S JASON AUBRY TAKES US TO THE PARADE IN CANAL WINCHESTER THAT HONORS THE MEMORY OF A CHILD– AND PROMOTES A POSITIVE MESSAGE. THIS YEAR’S GRAND MARSHAL IS THE BROCK STRONG FOUNDATION. CREATED BACK IN 2015, AFTER THE PASSING OF BROCK JOHNSON, THE FOUNDATION SPECIALIZES IN SPREADING RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS NATS – RING TOSS, MIDWAY SOUNDS THIS YEAR MARKS ANOTHER THAT BROCK JOHNSON WILL NOT BE ATTENDING THE CANAL WINCHESTER LABOR DAY FESTIVAL — AT THE AGE OF 14, THE TEENAGER BELOVED BY MANY IN THE SMALL OHIO TOWN DIED IN 2015 AFTER A LIFETIME OF STRUGGLING WITH MEDICAL ISSUES. KRISTI JOHNSTON / BROCK’S MOTHER: “BROCK LOVED THE FOOD AT THE LABOR DAY FESTIVAL, HE LOVED THE ROOT BEER TRUCK, HE LOVED THE FRIED FOOD, HE LOVED ALL OF THE FUN STUFF, WHEN HE WAS LITTLE HE LOVED PLAYING THE GAMES, WE HAVE A REAL SPECIAL COMMUNITY HERE AND LABOR DAY FESTIVAL IS JUST LIKE FAMILY TIME WHERE EVERYONE FROM OUR COMMUNITY IS THERE AND YOU SEE YOUR FRIENDS AND YOU HANG OUT AND YOU JUST PLAY GAMES, IT WAS ONE OF HIS FAVORITE THINGS TO DO.” THE JOHNSON’S STARTED THE BROCK STRONG FROUNDATION AFTER THEIR SON’S DEATH, AS A WAY TO PROMOTE RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS — THIS YEAR, FOR ITS DEDICATION TO THE COMMUNITY, THE FOUNDATION WAS CHOSEN TO BE THE MARSHAL OF THE ANNUAL PARADE — HEROES WAS THE THEME.
