Celebrating the Spring Holidays

DAY 1| 7 Days of Thanksgiving Challenge

DAY 1| 7 Days of Thanksgiving Challenge

(playful music) – Welcome everybody to the first day of the Thanksgiving challenge. I am so glad that you have decided to join us this Thanksgiving. And you know, what I
see out there many times is people, they go through life, they get through Halloween, Thanksgiving is kind of turkey day or football day, and we don’t really stop and take a look at what
Thanksgiving is all about. The word Thanksgiving to
me means giving thanks, you just reverse those
two words instead of Thanksgiving, giving thanks. And how many times do we just go through our day and we don’t stop to give thanks? I try to make it a habit
of myself every single day and I’m hoping in the next seven days that you’ll start this
habit in these seven days and I hope that you’ll continue this on. But, my commitment to myself, is everyday I want to
tell somebody thank you. I wanna stop, I wanna think, I wanna maybe write a little note, or maybe write a text and think about why I’m
thankful for that person, and I wanna thank them for that. Maybe they did something special for me. Maybe it’s somebody that’s
just meant something to me, and they’ve been there for me and they haven’t really
done anything particular for me to thank them but I
just wanna feel gratitude and I wanna express my gratitude for them. Being grateful, again think about that, gratefulness is what I think
being so full of gratitude that it just spills out from among you, and most of us, myself included,
we’re not really grateful. We’re not full of gratitude and I think part of that is
because we don’t exercise that. I believe being thankful
and having gratitude is kind of like exercising with weights. You know, the more we
exercise, the more we can do and the more it becomes a
natural for us to be able to do. So today, I’m gonna
challenge you, for today, and the next seven days,
to be thankful for somebody and tell that person, that you
are thankful for that person and I’m gonna have
different people each day for us to be thankful for. So you’re ready for day number one? So this is your first challenge. Tell your spouse or your
significant other one, or your girlfriend, your boyfriend, whoever that special somebody is, this should be an easy one, right? So, go up to them today and just say, hey, I just wanna let you know
that I am thankful for you. For me and my wife, I’ve
been married for 22 years. I am so thankful. I have been able to go
through ups and downs. I remember when we were first married and we didn’t have water at our house. We had a well and the well
went dry and for two months, we didn’t have water at our house. We went to my parents’ house to bathe. We got water from my work to
be able to have drinking water on our house for those two months for us to be able to save up enough money to be able to actually put
a new well at our house and I still remember $2200
was a lot of money to me at that time. And, you know, throughout that whole time, I remember coming home thinking to myself, I was such a failure and my wife was there and she would encourage
me and she would tell me it was gonna be okay. And it was like, that was a big deal for me in that time frame. And there’s been so many ups
and downs through our marriage, and I am so thankful for my wife, Becky, if you’re watching this
Becky, thank you so much for being my wife. Thank you so much for bearing our children and thank you so much for
always being there for me. And for being somebody that
I can be there for as well. So, there you have it, like
that’s who I’m thankful for, for my wife, who are you
thankful for and go out there and tell them. Tell them that you are
thankful for them today. I will do this myself. I will go out today and
I will tell my wife, hey, I am super thankful
for you and this is why. There’s your challenge for the day. Be thankful for your spouse
or your significant other, boyfriend or girlfriend. Ready, set, go! Have a great Thanksgiving season
and I will see you tomorrow on day two of the Thanksgiving challenge. Have a great day. (playful music)
