Labor Day means summer is winding down across the Tri-Cities

IT’S A DAY OFF FOR MANY AROUND THE TRI-CITIES. THE FIRST MONDAY IN SEPTEMBER ALSO MEANS THE END OF THE SEASON FOR PLACES THAT PROVIDE SUMMER TIME FUN. JACKIE DEFUSCO LEARNED – LABOR DAY 2018 FOUND MANY ENJOYING THE DAY… AND NOT QUITE READY TO SAY GOODBYE TO SUMMER. “I’M REALLY EXCITED FOR SCHOOL BUT YOU KNOW IT’S REALLY SAD THAT SUMMERS OVER ALREADY. I FEEL LIKE IT JUST WENT BY SO QUICK.” TODAY–TRI CITIES FAMILIES ARE SENDING OFF THE SUMMER AND NOT LETTING ANY MINUTE GO TO WASTE… AN ESTIMATED FIVE HUNDRED GETTING IN THEIR LAST SPLASHES, SLIDES AND SUN RAYS BEFORE THE WETLANDS WATER PARK IN JONESBOROUGH CLOSES ITS DOORS FOR THE SEASON. (MATT TOWNSEND/WATER PARK DIRECTOR) “LABOR DAY IS ALWAYS OUR LAST DAY OF THE SEASON. IT’S ALWAYS A BIG DAY, THE WEATHER IS ALWAYS GREAT IT SEEMS LIKE THIS TIME OF YEAR. IT’S JUST A GREAT TIME FOR PEOPLE TO COME OUT, SCHOOL IS IN SESSION BUT THEY GET TO HAVE THIS DAY OFF, COME OUT AND HAVE A LITTLE BIT OF FUN. SAY GOODBYE TO SUMMER FOR US.” A BITTER SWEET GOODBYE FOR ONE TRI CITIES GIRL… “I ACTUALLY LIKE SCHOOL.” FAMILIES WERE ALSO ENJOYING THE SUN AT THE ROTARY PARK IN JOHNSON CITY… SOME SPINNING MORE SPLASHING AND OTHERS HAVING PICNICS… “WE’RE HAVING SANDWICHES AND FRUIT AND CHIPS.” AS THE TRI-CITIES PREPARE FOR FALL, SOME ALREADY HAVE THEIR SIGHTS ON NEXT SUMMER. “WE’VE ALREADY STARTED OUR PLANNING FOR NEXT YEAR. IT’S GONNA BE A GREAT SEASON.” JACKIE DEFUSCO, NEWS CHANNEL 11 IN YOUR CORNER WHILE TODAY MAY BE THE LAST DAY
