Now why did you decide to take on the role? Well, I mean I think its obvious, because
of Kate and because of Jason and I liked the story very much. Joyce Maynard was somebody
who I knew a little bit about because of her past relationships and I thought that this
was a really, I liked the story because me doing like a romantic comedy, I couldn’t really
see. But I liked the idea of doing a romance and I’d seen Kate around and I always enjoyed
her personally and professionally and I really wanted to work with her. This was good timing. What was it like working with Kate? I mean
it must be every actors dream to work with her. I know its funny we say that. There’s an iconic
sense of her and how talented she is. But, it makes me look better if I work with somebody
that good. So maybe its selfish, I don’t know. She has a talent pool, she has resources that
a lot of other people don’t have. I’ve been watching her since Heavenly Creatures so I’ve
been a fan for a long time. She’s great and then personally there’s a lot of mischief
there to have fun with and we had a good time on the set, a really good time. She’s a great
all around girl. Now you’ve been very busy. Old Boy coming
out here in December. Now you had to do some yo yo dieting for that role. Have you recovered? I’ve almost completely recovered, not quite,
95%. You know the fight scenes and all that and dieting. I will never do it again, ever. Now is it true you were in talks for a role
for Batman? I wasn’t in talks. They talked to me and talked
to my agent about it. You know a lot of actors, it comes up and they go what about this guy
and we had a conversation with them and all that. They ended up going with a guy who I
think is going to be very good.
